Viking Bearded Axe with Dragon-Head Handle – 50 cm
Availability: 3 in stock
SKU: HAC-002During the Viking Age (8th-11th centuries), the axe was carried by almost every free man in Scandinavia, serving as both a tool and a weapon. The bearded design, with its downward-curving blade, provided a wide cut with minimal iron weight and left a gap that allowed it to be gripped short, close to the head. This replica combines that classic shape with the rich decoration of Norse art: interlaced patterns and a dragon's head engraved on the blade, and a handle that terminates in another carved dragon's head, reminiscent of the figures on ship prows and the carved wooden objects that Scandinavians adorned with fantastical creatures to imbue them with strength and protection.
