Templar sword of Jacques de Molay
Availability: 53 in stock
SKU: ESP-048Jacques de Molay was the last Grand Master of the Knights Templar. Elected around 1292, he had to confront the order's decline following the loss of the last Crusader strongholds in the Holy Land. In 1307, he was arrested in France on the orders of King Philip IV, along with hundreds of Templars. After years of legal proceedings, Pope Clement V suppressed the order in 1312, and in March 1314, Molay died at the stake in Paris after recanting the confessions extracted from him and proclaiming the Templars' innocence. His figure has since become the great symbol of the order and its legend.
This sword does not reproduce a specific weapon of Molay's—none have survived—but rather pays homage to his memory with a Templar aesthetic: a long, straight blade, a crossguard decorated with three red crosses, and a pommel bearing the Templar cross. It comes with a wooden mount for wall hanging, intended as a collector's item and decorative piece.
