Templar Dagger Veritas Crucis with Golden Cross
Availability: 6 in stock
SKU: DAG-002The Knights Templar were founded around 1120 in Jerusalem with a very specific mission: to protect pilgrims travelling to the Holy Land. Their knights took their name from the headquarters they occupied next to the ancient Temple and always bore the cross as the emblem of their vow. This dagger embodies the austere style of 12th-century Templar weapons: a straight, double-edged blade, a black hilt, and a pommel with a gold cross on a red background. According to the maker's account, which lacks documented historical basis, the dagger "Veritas Crucis" (the Truth of the Cross) was given to the young knight Friar Milo de Clairval, who used it to free unjustly imprisoned people and defend pilgrims on the road to Caesarea. After the fall of the Templars, it was secretly passed from hand to hand. The character is fictional, although the headquarters in Jerusalem, the route to the port of Caesarea, and the protection of pilgrims are indeed part of the Order's real history.
