Brescia, in northern Italy, was one of Europe's great gunmaking centers from the Renaissance onward, renowned for the quality of its cannons and the decoration of its firearms. In the first half of the 19th century, its workshops adopted the percussion lock, which replaced the flintlock: the hammer struck a percussion cap instead of a flint, and the weapon was far less prone to misfires. Elegant and accurate single-shot pistols like this one were also used in duels of honor during that era.

This reproduction of an 1825 Brescia pistol features a metallic gray barrel, lock, and fittings with scroll engravings, and a wooden stock with an ornate metal pommel. It measures 38 cm and weighs 555 g. Its mechanism simulates firing and accepts percussion caps, but it does not fire projectiles.
