"Militia Templi" sword of the Order of the Temple with Templar Cross and Black Sheath
Availability: 2 in stock
SKU: ESP-031The Knights Templar, whose Latin name was Militia Templi, was founded in Jerusalem around 1119-1120 to protect Christian pilgrims in the Holy Land. It became one of the most powerful military and religious orders of the Crusades, until Pope Clement V dissolved it in 1312, pressured by King Philip IV of France. The cross engraved on the pommel and scabbard of this replica evokes the emblem associated with the order, one of the most recognizable symbols in Crusader iconography.
Its double-edged blade, with edges almost parallel to a rounded point, follows the tradition of the Northern European knight's sword, from which the Templars, like other military orders of the time, adopted their weaponry.
