Replica of the Lee-Enfield Mk III Short Magazine Rifle, adopted by the British Army in 1907 and the standard rifle of its soldiers during the First World War and much of the Second. Its ten-round magazine and fast-action bolt allowed for a very high rate of fire for a bolt-action weapon, making it one of the most effective rifles of its time. Its mass production involved numerous factories in the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth, and its reliability and ease of maintenance kept it in service for decades. It is the rifle of choice for Commonwealth soldiers in First World War films such as "Gallipoli." From 1926, it was officially designated the Rifle No. 1 Mk III.
