Japanese Maru Katana in Black - Set with 2 Tsuba, Mallet and Wooden Stand
Availability: 7 in stock
SKU: KAT-018This katana is forged from a single piece of steel, a construction known as maru (丸), the most direct method of making a Japanese blade. It is presented as a set designed for the beginner sword collector: in addition to the assembled sword, it includes two extra guards (鍔, tsuba) to change the appearance of the hilt, a small wooden mallet traditionally used for maintenance and disassembly of the handle, and a wooden stand for displaying the piece. The understated black finish is typical of katanas intended for practical, introductory use.

The round, dark-toned guard is assembled along with the other metal parts before the whole assembly is attached to the black-lacquered wooden scabbard.
