French medieval sword from the 14th century with fleur-de-lis and blue scabbard, 109 cm
Availability: 24 in stock
SKU: ESP-051The sword was the preferred weapon of medieval knights, the most personal, prestigious, and versatile in close combat. Its owners liked to personalize it—some even gave it a name—and it was both weapon and symbol, as the blade and hilt form a cross. This reproduction, inspired by 14th-century France, bears an inscription in Vulgar Latin engraved on the crossguard and pommel, meaning "Guarded by a dragon that never sleeps, in the name of truth."
The blue scabbard, studded with golden fleurs-de-lis, evokes the emblem of the French monarchy, which since the Middle Ages has represented its arms with gold fleurs-de-lis on a blue field. It is an original design, intended for collecting and display.
